Join us for our annual Kaleidoscope Children's Art Festival Saturday, June 27th, from 10am to 2pm. This fun outdoor arts festival provides children of all ages with many opportunities to engage in hands-on creativity. This year's Kaleidoscope will feature clay-building, painting, gyotoku printing, art history, woodworking, music, weaving, and more! The festival is free and will be held on the corner of Highway 55 and Mission St. Food will be made available for purchase by Subway for those wishing to have lunch at the festival.

 2009 Garden Party
Join us on Saturday, July 25th, for a beautiful evening in the Shavers' Family Garden for our annual Artists' Celebration of Charlie's Garden. The celebration features auctions of diverse local and regional art, delicious appetizers, wine, and live music. A significant fundraiser for the McCall Arts and Humanities Council, this celebration allows us to continue our important work in the McCall area. The evening also provides an important venue for artists to share and sell their work. Participating artists receive a gallery commission on their evening's sales, making the celebration a great way to support local artists. Please call 634-7136 or e-mail mahc@ctcweb.net to inquire on purchasing tickets for the evening ($60 per person) or on participating as a featured artist.

Art Envelope Showcases Regional Artists
If you have ever wanted to review artwork by area artists in the comfort of your own home then Art Envelope can help. The Art Envelope is an effort to showcase regional artists and their artwork. Artists who live or recreate in this area have a special ability to capture the beauty and special characteristics of this place. Their work is informed by the environment and the dramatic seasonal changes which makes this area so unique. We believe that many people coming to Valley County would like to support our arts community and show authentic regional artwork in their homes. However, it can be difficult to locate artists and view the types of artwork being produced. The Art Envelope provides a series of large format postcards with samples of each artist's work, information about the artist, and phone number and website address. If someone is interested in viewing an artist's portfolio or in commissioning an original piece of art they can contact the artist directly.

The current envelope features samples of work from Jennifer Worsley, Donna Bernstein, Norman Nelson, Linda Corbet, Bobbi Kelly, Tom Stewart, Ward Hooper, Kathy Golden, Sheree Sonfield, Sandmire Studios, and Shannon Fausey. Regional artists are invited to participate in future versions of Art Envelope by contacting the MAHC. Art Envelopes were distributed to interior designers, real estate agents, architects, and builders. If you would like your own Art Envelope please call the MAHC at 634-7136 or send an email to mahc@ctcweb.net.

Public Art In McCall
The Arts and Trails Project, a series of five cairn trail markers featuring maps and information about the natural environment, works to help pathgoers orient themselves to the pathway network and provides information about each site. Cairn markers can be found on Warren Wagon Road, behind the old fire station, at the intersection of Spring Mt. and Wooley, at Brown Park, and at the intersection of Deinhard and the bike path. Cairns were created by Boise artist Amy Westover.

Wings Over McCall, by public artist Ward Hooper, pays tribute to McCall's on-going interest in flight. The eagle's wing, early airplane wing, and jet wing work together to form a sundial and represent three eras in flight. We hope this marker indicates the importance of aviation to everyone passing by on Highway 55.

The ArtWalk Project is a unique concept to bring outdoor art to McCall for a temporary display. Sites along a walking corridor in downtown McCall will feature pedestals with unique sculptural pieces by regional artists. Both abstract and representational pieces will decorate the walking tour. Artists’ work will be on view and available for sale at the conclusion of the showing period. This cultural experience will provide important exposure and sales opportunities for regional artists.
